SBK, Toprak: "I remember Rossi's overtake, maybe it's not similar, but it's the same attack"

“I was worried before Barcelona. Now we'll have tracks where I know I’ll be fast. Unfortunately, I couldn't stop the BMW today the way I wanted to. We tried some changes, but the BMW wouldn’t turn.”

SBK: Toprak:

Barcelona is a weekend Toprak should frame, with two wins and a 3rd place. The Turkish rider then treated himself to a dream weekend by returning to the top of the podium. So he’s definitely really satisfied by the work done with BMW and the progress made.

"I think it was a great weekend," he said. "We won two races and finished third in the last one. Before I got here, I was worried. But, instead, we did a fantastic job."

He then spoke about Bautista’s overtake in the morning Sprint.
"The moment Alvaro passed me at turn one, I tried to stay attached to him. I knew I could try at ten, but it wasn’t the time, because I struggled in acceleration. But at turn thirteen I said to myself, ‘Go, try it’, so I shifted to second and took advantage of the acceleration to enter and get the first position. I remember Rossi’s overtake on Lorenzo. Maybe it's not similar, but it's the same attack. I'd put it in the top three of my career. Obviously, I hope to do other overtakes like today's."

The Turkish rider’s morale is high.
"I'm really happy, considering I'm not one hundred percent, yet. But we progress every day. The Ducati is still fast, and today they proved it in race two, as well as throughout the weekend."

Toprak was was partly limited in Barcelona.
"Unfortunately, today I couldn’t stop the bike like I wanted in the race. In fact, I had to anticipate braking, and  I lost a lot at the start. We tried many things, but nothing changed. The BMW wouldn’t turn."

Now he’s thinking about Assen.
"Here, in Barcelona, we did an extraordinary job, considering all the difficulties we had. The upcoming tracks will be more favorable, and I’m convinced that I can be faster, because you don't have to constantly manage."
