News: Domenicali on 2nd place in MX1:

It’s a wrap! The Ducati Desmo450 MX ridden by Alessandro Lupino conquered the pole position and the victory in the first round during his racing debut in the Italian Motocross Pro-Prestige MX1 Championship, ending the first 2024 round in 2nd place, overall. During the first round of the Italian Championship, held at the Mantova International Circuit, the eight-time Italian Champion led the opening round of the championship, from the first to the last lap, after achieving the best reference in both free practice and qualifying. In the second round, after a difficult start, Lupino finished in 7th place after a great comeback, winning the second overall position of the day.

Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati Motor Holding, was there to celebrate the result: "This weekend in Mantova, we wrote another chapter in Ducati's history. Alessandro Lupino and our team really entertained us and, even if it was the first motocross race in our recent history, we had some great performances right from the start. Best time in free practice, the pole position, and the win in the first round are really a debut that lived up to our expectations. We gathered a lot of information that will be essential in better developing the bike, which will be available to all fans next year. Congratulations to Alessandro and to all our off-road team. A great start to a new story of sports and passion."

Alessandro Lupino commented, "These were two very exciting days. My debut with Ducati was truly a dream. They had told me so, but I experienced it today! Feeling like a Ducati rider is a very special sensation. Congratulations to all the guys who worked on this project, because they made a spectacular bike with so much potential in  a very short time, doing an incredible job. Together, we wrote a page in history. The first pole and first round won for the Ducati Desmo450 MX. Unfortunately, the second round didn't go as I would’ve liked. I fumbled the start and couldn't recuperate. But that's okay. Now the engineers have the data to analyze two completely different situations!"

The next round of the Italian Motocross Championship is scheduled for April 27th and 28th at the Cingoli (Macerata) track. Meanwhile, tests on the Desmo450 MX will continue with Alessandro Lupino and Tony Cairoli, who was present in Mantova to support the eight-time Italian Motocross Champion and greet all his fans.
