My Christmas wishes; Santa Claus, bring me a MV Agusta 12cm heel

Christmas 2023, in a lively chat with our Director Paolo Scalera I was asked the fateful question: "Lucia, what motorbike would you like to find under the Christmas tree?"

Moto - News: My Christmas wishes; Santa Claus, bring me a MV Agusta 12cm heel

by Lucia Damiata

Thus begins my complex mental journey through the vast world of two wheels, a journey that highlights the complexity of being a passionate motorcyclist, eager for the infinite motorbikes that I would like to admire by opening the garage door. Not to find a justification for my greed but, after all, there is no garage that is enough for a true motorcyclist. There are many categories of motorcycles and there is no motorcycle versatile enough to cover them all. On the other hand, how could I show up at a gala event wearing trekking shoes or at a training session in the gym with 12cm heels? Come on, you know what I mean!

As it's Christmas and everyone is allowed to dream... here's my daydream: the wonderful, unattainable motorbike, with a unique and inimitable design which, however, a little too demanding, I would admire in my living room at home or use for truly special occasions. And then, just between you and me, if as if by magic I saw it appear under the Christmas tree... I would even use it for the kitchen-living room journey! Well yes, I admit my weakness for exclusive motorbikes and, in this Christmas fantasy, the brand that shines like a star is MV Agusta. In both its sporty and naked variants, Mv Agusta manages to enchant two-wheel enthusiasts with its unparalleled combination of power, agility and elegance.

My personal taste, an aspect probably due to my physicality, usually falls on motorcycles that are light, compact, fast, agile and objectively beautiful to look at... because as we know, even the eye wants its part! My thoughts seem to find their maximum expression in the magic of MV's creations, which manage to combine breathtaking performance with a truly fascinating design. The heart of the experience I am telling you about, which took place in 2020, was the opportunity to put a real gem on two wheels to the test: the MvVAgusta Brutale 1000 Serie Oro Limited Edition, specifically number 65 of 300.

That was an unforgettable day! If I close my eyes I can still feel the adrenaline of that short ride and remember the wonderful sound of this mechanical masterpiece, which echoes in my mind. The Brutale 1000 Serie Oro is a hyper-naked bike that looks like a moving work of art. Its statuesque presence is capable of capturing the attention of anyone who encounters it, a perfect combination of form and function that makes it not only fast and agile, but also objectively enchanting. The red livery, in perfect harmony with the Christmas spirit, is integrated with red-textured carbon components and golden yellow Öhlins suspensions, giving it a touch of exclusivity and refinement.

Ultimately, the MV Agusta Brutale 1000 Serie Oro is much more than a motorcycle. It's a statement of passion, a celebration of engineering excellence and an ode to beauty on two wheels. A perfect combination that continues to inspire my dream, perhaps even under the Christmas tree. The version I tested on that occasion was super equipped. The owner let me have a few kilometres on it before deciding to show it off in the meeting room of his office. From a collector's perspective, the choice of this unique example proved to be a winning one, as the MV Agusta Brutale 1000 Serie Oro still maintains its market value today.

The Serie Oro in the 2019-2020 edition, thanks to its 4-cylinder in-line engine, delivers 208 hp of power in a homologated configuration. A figure that increases to 212 hp with the racing exhaust. Produced in just 300 units, it was nicknamed "the fastest naked in the world", reaching a top speed of well over 300 km/h with a dry weight of just 184 kg. With attention to the smallest details, it features red weave carbon rims and superstructures, in addition to magnesium components, frame and swingarm. Each element contributes to creating an extraordinary motorcycle from both a performance and aesthetic point of view. The red carbon texture is a distinctive touch, a sign of refinement that further elevates the prestige of this stunning motorcycle.

Riding the MV Agusta Brutale 1000 is able to instantly put you at ease. Very light, agile, agile but still firmly planted on the ground. If I think about it, it's a bike that perhaps I never fully understood and that still intrigues me. All the more reason to ask Santa Claus! Looking at it almost inspires fear: the angular lines, the captivating design and the sporty details suggest power and strong emotions, maintaining a harmony that distinguishes it as a creation with a unique and unmistakable style. The aesthetics, although "extreme", never fall into excess, presenting themselves as extremely sophisticated, with details that speak of exceptional performance and an extraordinary personality.

During my encounter with this wonder on two wheels, I experienced an unforgettable moment: I was there, sitting on the saddle, feeling genuinely intimidated (despite my youthful bravado) when, bitterly regretting the commitment I had made, I released the clutch and realized I was on the other hand perfectly at ease. The MV Agusta Brutale 1000 Serie Oro, despite presenting extreme and demanding performance, also surprised me with its manageability, a credit that must be attributed to its hyper-evolved electronics. Between you and me, the anti-wheelie function is also very useful on several occasions.

The electro-hydraulic Öhlins suspension compartment and the steering damper, also electro-hydraulic which interacts with the inertial platform, can be perfectly exploited for track use. However, the ease of approach and manageability of the Varese hyper-naked make it usable even on the road by moderately experienced motorcyclists. In fact, this was precisely the prerogative of MV Agusta: to create a motorbike that nods at the most powerful super sports bikes, without however exacerbating the difficulty of handling while riding. Equipped as standard with launch control, it is clearly a bike that reaches extreme speeds. Which is why the aerodynamics are very careful and also features fins integrated into the radiator cover which, at a speed of 250km/h, give an aerodynamic load of 25kg on the front end. The spoiler on the tapered headlight also helps support the instruments, which has also been designed with attention to aerodynamics.

The extremely low weight, thanks to light components and the lithium battery which is small in size and weighs just a few grams, allows for easy management of the motorbike both when stationary and on the move. It is not very comfortable: the Alcantara saddle is narrow, essential and not particularly padded and the leaning forward position places a slight burden on the wrists. But, at the end of the day, you're showing off patent leather Christian Louboutin 12cm heels at a gala event, a bit of pain is clearly part of the game and I, would really like such a chic icon in my motorbike park!

So let's get to the price of this work of art: starting at €43,000, in the super-equipped version I tested, it was well over €60,000. Mind-boggling figures, but we understand that we are talking about something very different from common everyday motorcycles.
